HINTS AND TIPS

Useful tips

We do not recommend restaurants or cafés facing directly to Váci street, usually they are too expensive compared to the quality. (tipical tourist-traps:-)
Exception: Anna Café which sells very good quality of sandwiches, salads, ice cream and a wide variety of coffee and shake.

Be careful with the taxi drivers. Use only cab companies, or from or to the aiport the airport transfer service. (they have fixed rates to different districts of the city)

From the public transport service we recommend only the metro, kisföldalatti (millennium train - yellow line), tram number 2 (goes around the bend of the Danube), and the Budavári Sikló (Funicular on the Buda hills, going to the Castle from the Chain Bridge)

Baths

Széchenyi-Bath on the Pest side (just a couple of stops with the Kisföldalatti from both Residences) is a common bath, with indoor facilities like steam bath, different saunas, massage, tepid bath, and thermal baths. They have only outdoor swimming pools. Check out the official page, and photo gallery here.

Gellért-Bath is the most famous thermal bath on the Buda side. It is beautifully decorated inside, and have the same facilities as Széchenyi Bath, but Gellért has an indoor swimming pool as well. This is the most expensive one. Check out the official page, and photo gallery here.

Rudas-Bath is located on the Buda-side and is world-famous for its night-bathing facility on the weekends and Cinetrip-parties. Be careful, the bath is only for men during weekdays, and famous for its Turkish thermal baths. Check out the official page, and photo gallery here.

Lukács-Bath is on the Buda-side and is a common bath, with same facilities as Széchenyi-Bath. Check out the official page, and photo gallery here.
